Not a trained model though, but I certainly knew that modelling is what I will end up with. My transition from journalism to modelling may be sudden but my respect for style and the modelling industry has been persistent. I always had high regard for this industry. Modelling is one of the best forms of exploring art and oneself. I always felt art can never be taught- either you have it or you don't. Of course, there are ways to groom oneself and learn from ongoing trend but trends are more of copy-paste culture rather than exploring oneself or modelling as an art itself.
Modelling is much more than just posing. I acknowledge that posing is an integral part and quality of a model but the bigger picture of the industry remains unexplored. Abound with fantasy, imagination and creativity-modelling is live fiction.
As I have mentioned in several blogs that models and the industry are constantly struggling to cope up with age old stereotypes. And these unrealistic stereotypes and unjustifiable blame game is posing hurdles for the industry to get the respect that it deserves. I must say this is a beautiful world provided one knows their priorities. There is no shortcut to success. It should be earned with all dignity and respect. Models are not puppets; they are the trendsetters. So, know yourself better than anyone else. Do not wait for directions-learn to direct yourself-get into the mood-identify yourself and relate with the style spontaneously. Deluge yourself into the soothing cacophony of style-it's very pleasing. Be a Model by Mind, Body and Soul.
